Supporting Women in Rural Bangladesh

The Jacksons work with talented handicraft women in rural Bangladesh. The women have the option to work at the community centre or at home to fit in with their family lives'. The women are paid directly. They're proud to support the education, healthcare and livelihoods of the craftspeople in Bangladesh who have become Louise’s “extended family”. 

 Another benefit of jute is that it is very strong- these bags can carry between 10 kgs -14 kgs. Each bag contains 450m of jute. the jute bags are handmade and no machinery is used at all throughout the process, except for the dying. Only Azo free dyes are used.

Why we love The Jacksons at HAVEN 

Based in London, The Jacksons create playful bags with purpose and intention. Founder Louise Jackson built a partnership in 2012 with women in Bangladesh to create handcrafted bags. Through the partnership, 3000 women living in poverty are provided with job opportunities and resources including free medical care and education for themselves and their families. 

The Jacksons boutique is located in Notting Hill and since 1998, the brand has brought bright color and eclectic accessories to locals. As a former costume designer, Louise values style but is especially focused on creating sustainable and durable pieces that make a statement.
